Packing
Packing is absolutely a circle of hell, I am certain of it. Packing with children? Forget about it.
I have found that most packing must be done while they are either physically out of the house or in zombie mode on the couch, otherwise, they pull items out and wander around the house, setting the item down in an odd place only to be found after I have taped the corresponding box shut. So now I pack while they're busy (seriously, don't come at me for the screen time) and I tape the box shut or put it out of their reach.
I remember reading a blog post about a move-in box when we moved with Charlie from Chicago to MKE and loved it. Essentially, just like when you go on a road trip, the essentials must be immediately accessible. So each girl has a bag I'll pack with their clothes, hygiene items, beloved stuffies, books, etc. I have a tote that will have essential cleaning items for our arrival, important things like toilet paper (remember 2020 when ya'll were hoarding the tp?), and paper towels. And of course snacks. We really don't travel without snacks, like, ever. I saw Violet grab a snack for her 4-minute car ride to school the other day and just sort of giggled - hey, you never know when your next snack might be.
We're moving. Moving is a top stressor, but we're doing it. We have 14 days until closing and this mama would love all your positive vibes, love, support, and ice-cold adult beverages or -- or -- hear me out -- you can come pack! ;) Just kidding... kind of.
