Routine Hurricane
It's so hard to go about my normal daily routine, knowing that my friends in the south are preparing for something so catastrophic while I casually debate taking the girls to the pumpkin patch this afternoon.
While I sip my coffee and check emails, Floridians are preparing sandbags and floodgates.
While I participate in a Zoom call, Floridians are fleeing their homes, leaving everything behind. The gas stations are out of gas. The highways are packed. Tensions are high.
I know and recognize that this is the way it has always been, my heart goes out to each family as they try to find safe refuge. Empathy will go a long ways, friends.
So today, heavy on my heart, I am holding space for Florida. Praying that Milton isn't an absolute monster, but the satellite images don't exactly reassure me on that part. We are about to witness another massive storm barrel over Florida. They haven't even had the time to recover from Helene. Praying for the children in Florida who are no doubt scared. My kids freak out when the tornado sirens go off and we have to go down to the basement. I cannot fathom having to navigate the girls through this experience. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We don't know what this storm will truly bring, but stay safe, Florida. Make good choices.
We will rebuild.
